Responsible actors navigate. To this end, they try to orient themselves in a changing and often complex reality to the best of their knowledge and conscience, and to assess as accurately as possible the potential consequences of different behavioural options – followed by appropriate (self-)steering. When this is done consciously with regard to interaction logics, forms of interaction and levels of civility (the civility-theoretical variable space), this can be described as civility navigation.
