Discussion: Climate policy self-deception?

Unbroken by all previous climate policies, global greenhouse gas emissions have risen continuously since the 1950s, reaching a new significant peak in 2024 - a disaster for the (global) climate policy pursued with enormous effort and great fanfare (see the current WMO report).

In contrast, the public believes that climate policy is being effectively addressed and that climate policy is, in fact, on track - see the corresponding press release by the head of the Federal Environment Agency, Dirk Messner, and the former Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (Robert Habeck).

Are these critical observations shared by climate protection experts and climate policymakers? If so, what conclusions should be drawn from them?
